 Exercise Classes

So many different types of exercise classes doing different things. How do I know which one I should go to? Here a small breakdown for you.

Holistic Exercise

Contrary to popular belief, exercise doesn’t have to be approached with the ‘No Pain, No Gain’ mentality. Holistic exercises are designed to use exercise techniques that improve both body and mind. These exercises focus on relaxation and spiritual balance through meditation, stretching and calming of the senses, instead of pumping iron until you drop.

SportsDock provides three types of Yoga that aims to deliver the relaxation and spiritual balance that is required for a cleansed body and refreshed mind: Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Detox Yoga.

Low Intensity Exercise

Low Intensity exercise is performed between 60-65% of your maximum heart rate. This type of exercise is usually ideal for beginners or those who have a chronic health condition, such as obesity.

If you want to lose weight but have little or no experience in exercising, low Intensity training could be the perfect option for you. This could be as simple as walking the dog around the park or mopping the kitchen floor.

Or why not try one of our low intensity exercise classes which offer you the benefit of a group environment, guidance and support from our highly qualified instructors.

Low Intensity SportsDock classes include Pilates, Core Conditioning and Ab Blast.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

High Intensity Training will be performed at about 80-85% of your maximum heart rate. The aim of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is to combine periods of extreme anaerobic exercises with less intense periods of recovery in order to burn high levels of calories and fat, improve athletic capacity as well as improving insulin resistance and glucose tolerance. This is a great method if you would like to lose weight or improve your VO2 max with the added bonus of after burn (EPOC) for up to 24 hours after your training.

However, why not seek that extra level of motivation by competing with friends in one of our exciting exercise classes which include Spinning, Train Insane, Body Blast and Body Pump.
